Robert Tibbo

In 2013, Montreal lawyer Robert Tibbo helped whistleblower Edward Snowden hide out with refugee families in Hong Kong and successfully release his documents to the world. A respected lawyer who has worked for 30 years to defend refugee rights in Hong Kong, Mr. Tibbo was forced to leave Hong Kong in November 2017 due to threats of arrest. He has also made it a point of principle to defend the three families who hosted the American whistleblower in 2013, nicknamed the “Snowden Angels”, successfully ensuring the families were granted permanent asylum in Canada.
