Social Justice Pathogens Infecting British Culture

Corrupted social justice pathogens from the battlefield of American political warfare are infecting British activism, institutions and culture, spilling over into the UK public narrative undetected because there is no native built-up resistance.

My biggest concern about culture in the UK is a growing infection of the public conversation and poisoning of intersectional activism (e.g. in groups like Extinction Rebellion and student populations) by fallout from the highly sophisticated day-to-day warfare of American politics.
Intersectionality, critical race theory, woke dynamics and even #BLM identity politics: all these important cultural forces have been partly or wholly absorbed – appropriated misdirected redefined – by the overarching power dynamics in the USA. The medium and the message of ALL fundamental social justice struggle is no longer controlled by sincere, independent citizens and often doesn’t serve our best interests.
The repurposing of critical race theory and woke marketing, in service of extant power, is a big problem in America. But it can at least be fought directly in the US by Americans, advantaged by the home context.  I worry there’s little or no firsthand experience in the UK (or among XR activists) of the step-by-step mutation process – as plutocracy capture evolved – radiating out from American think-tanks, academies and media circles.
Foreign pathogens face no built-up resistance, disproportionately impacting the public narrative (and the minds of simpatico activists). Corrupted ideas of social justice reality find their way undetected into the bloodstream of XR and UK activism.
Henry T is an exemplar of the next generation’s intelligent frontline. Educated, eloquent and potentially influential… But also a prime target for corruption by the subtly poisoned well of identity politics (woke, social justice, CRT, etc). With enough well-placed targets like Henry T infected, their talents, zeal and vigour can be harnessed to manipulate exponentially larger demographics.
Campaigns of well-crafted groupthink, inserted by central policy-makers and driven by a mix of sincere or self-serving advocates, impact social justice activism (politics) just like product placements, inserted by WPP or Omnicom and driven by Instagram influencers, impact choice preferences of the audience (consumers).
[I bet you haven’t heard of WPP or Omnicom by the way. Which is a good metaphor for effective infection penetration!]
Please don’t misunderstand me. I’m not suggesting the egalitarianism of social justice is poison, or that racism isn’t evil (and endemic). In fact, the very rightness of social and racial justice is what made its repurposing such a priority for the corporate-oligarchy and why it’s such an effective weapon for winning votes and exerting influence over identified demographics. In America.

Plane travel cross-pollinates individuals at an unprecedented scale. This cross-pollination turns foreign to familiar, which is the most effective rebuttal to fascists weaponizing xenophobia through fear into “us against them” Untermensch thinking. Attacking plane travel for the small impact on the planet’s pollution is both a bad loss leader and a recipe for populations hostile to more and more nationalities perceived as ‘other’. The temptation to fixate on planets and airports is a natural one, for an environmentalist, but it’s short-sighted and ultimately counterproductive. Human society isn’t better when it’s atomized.
